Neuro Linguistic Programming: I'm a Coach!

Becoming a certified Master Practitioner and NLP Coach has been a game changer for me. I have created several creatively rich courses/podcasts incorporating NLP. The Creative Writing Course, the Sarandipity Style Inside Out Course for women, and courses in Writing Fantasy, Magic Realism, Science Fiction, and Visual Literacy in AI Art. Many more are bubbling up in my brain, which must have transformed a little after a couple of months of practice. The brain is malleable, plastic, and can be moulded. And it should be moulded if we'd like to achieve our goals and become richer, smarter, more compassionate, more creative, more youthful, more beautiful, and even free of disease and depression.

How NLP Began and Why it Matters

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was invented in the 1970s by the very impressive and dynamic Richard Bandler, a computer science student, and John Grinder, a linguist. Their aim was to distil the essence of effective communication and personal transformation, leading to the development of a system that combined insights from psychology, linguistics, and systems theory.

At its core, NLP is a science of the mind—a set of techniques that help you reprogram limiting beliefs, enhance creative intuition, and access flow states more consistently. When you are in 'the flow,' you are completely absorbed in what you are doing. Like when you are painting or writing a story.

Neuro Linguistic Programming is based on the premise that our thoughts, emotions, and actions are influenced by the intricate interplay between language, subconscious patterns, and mental imagery. By understanding and manipulating these elements, NLP offers practical tools for reshaping our internal narratives and behaviours.

This is powerful. It means we can tap into the unconscious processes that govern our lives through techniques such as anchoring, reframing, and pattern interruption and break free from entrenched habits and develop more resourceful mental states. By changing the language we use—both internally and externally—we can alter our perceptions of reality and, in turn, achieve transformative results.

Over the decades, NLP has been applied effectively in a variety of fields, from therapy and coaching to business and education. And it often leads to rapid and positive change by empowering us to harness the potential of our minds.

I have completed a couple of courses with the excellent Ram Verma, who pioneered NLP in India. I rose at 5:00 am for 14 days during January and February 2025 and will perform another 14-day marathon next month. The God of Miracles Workshop. I have gotten up this early only a couple of times before in my life. To hop out of your warm, soft bed before the sun rises is a big achievement for me. For your back must be straight for these long meditations. I don't meditate. But I suppose prayer is meditation as is any creative activity you love. Certainly an NLP exercise IS meditation.

As you can see by my certificate, I also completed an advanced course in NLP. And I thought, hey, I can now help people bust through creative blocks and unwanted patterns and become who they want to be and are meant to be.
